Wrestler (And Real-Life Superhero) John Cena Honors Young Fan Battling Cancer
John Cena may not have real super powers, but the WWE wrestler is known for his ability to make dreams come true.
Last year, the 38-year-old became the first celebrity to grant 400 wishes through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
“I think it boils down to the fact that John connects with children in a really special way,” a spokesperson for Make-A-Wish told Yahoo! News at the time.
On Monday night’s episode of “WWE Raw,” Cena showed off his wish-granting powers yet again when he honored a young wrestling fan who is battling cancer.
Cena, the current WWE United States Champion, was facing off with Kevin Owens when he spotted the youngster in the audience. The child was carrying an “I’m Beating Cancer” sign.
“If I … say the words ‘never give up,’ not only am I telling the truth, I am encouraging young and old, all alike, like that person right there, to do the exact same thing,” Cena said, pointing out the kid.
Later, once the taping of the show was over, the wrestler went into the audience and ushered the youngster into the wrestling ring.
The look of incredulity on the kid’s face says it all.
