Alex’s Army was honored to be the Community Spotlight Organization during our Town of Haymarket’s September Council Meeting! We were given then opportunity to share about our mission, including updates as to what we’ve been up to most recently.

Watch Alex’s mom Jenni and our friend Michelle, Kendall’s mom, share at the September 6th meeting on the town website here

Your support truly makes a difference

Your support truly makes a difference and we couldn’t be more grateful!

Thanks to the financial gifts of our supporters, Alex’s Army has been able to contribute an astounding $440,000 over the last several years specifically to help fund the REST Immunotherapy Trial at Children’s National Hospital.  We have remained fully committed to funding this particular trial as we share in the belief with many in the Pediatric Oncology World that Immunotherapies are the future of pediatric cancer treatments.

On Tuesday, August 30th, Alex’s mom had the incredible honor of attending a reception hosted by Madam Ambassador Karen Pierce, Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the US, in celebration of the astounding $25 million Cancer Grand Challenges award presented to Children’s National.  With this award Children’s National in collaboration with University College London will work together utilizing the very best technologies to develop cutting edge cell and gene therapies specific for pediatric solid tumors.  It is the hope of the all involved, that in the next decade Immunotherapies and targeted treatments will be the first line protocol for pediatric solid tumors which would great reduce if not eliminate the harsh long term effects that chemotherapies have on growing children.

To have been invited was an honor in itself.  But to witness how the donations we’ve received over the years contributed to the work Children’s has done through the REST trial and helped lead to this astounding grant and the future of solid tumor immunotherapy – it’s overwhelming to say the least.

THANK YOU for supporting our mission and for your hearts to make a difference for future families impacted by childhood cancers.  Every dollar TRULY makes a difference and we are so grateful to have your support!
