13th Birthday/Awareness Event

On Saturday, April 8th, 2017 Alex’s Army is coming together as #onevoice with other childhood cancer focused organizations from the Northern VA area and together we will attempt to break the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the Most people performing push ups!!!
Yep – you heard us right – and YOU’RE INVITED!
This FREE event will be held on what would have been our Alex’s 13th Birthday and will be held not only to honor not only him, but to honor ALL children who are fighting, have fought, and will fight childhood cancers. We will have food trucks, powerful guest speakers, an Official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ judge onsite, music, games, kids’ entertainment, and MORE! We will even be presenting a trophy to the High School, Middle School, Elementary School, and Sports Organization with the MOST participants – so grab your friends, spread the word, and JOIN US for a once in a lifetime opportunity to be a part of a real GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ attempt!
The Record
The current record is 1645 people and we are looking to have at least 2000 people registered to participate…in order to accomplish this WE NEED YOU! NOTE: It is not the number of push ups you can do but instead the
Most people performing push ups for 1 minute – TOTALLY attainable!
Why Push ups?
Our sweet Alex had an alarm on his phone for “20 push-ups” twice a day. In early 2016, when he went into hospice care and couldn’t do his push-ups any longer, people started sending us their push-up videos and started the hashtag #Twenty4Alex! Our family was so touched by these gestures of love and Alex was so humbled to think people were so inspired by him to do that. Alex, like so many other young children faced with fighting cancer, embodied strength, courage, and determination. This event will honor each of them in a unique and powerful way! Important Information
*Push up Participants must be 8 years’ old and/or in 3rd grade
*Carpooling is strongly recommended (Details for Overflow parking plans to be announced soon)
*Should you need to cancel, please let us know by cancelling your ticket so we can plan accordingly
*Inclement weather announcements will be made 24 hours in advance (Rain Date will be April 22nd)
Funding Research
In 2016, Alex’s Army provided $105,000.00 for Childhood Cancer Research and our goal is to do it again in 2017! Any proceeds received from this Awareness/Birthday Celebration event will be directly allocated to our Alex’s Army Research Fund. Helping with this can be as simple as:
